Music of Waterloo

CHM 031101    A CD sampler featuring highlights from the choirs, orchestras and bands of the Waterloo Region

The Waterloo Region is very fortunate to have a diverse and vibrant performing arts community.  In addition to their regular season concert series, many ensembles have also been actively recording CDs, as well as taping concerts for archival purposes, and for broadcast on CBC.  The region now has an enviable discography of recordings covering a broad range of classical and contemporary music.

Music of Waterloo is a CD sampler produced by Chestnut Hall Music in collaboration with regional music ensembles that features highlights from the recordings of the choirs, orchestras and bands of the Waterloo Region.

The goal of the CD is to raise funds for the Grand River Hospital Foundation's Cancer Centre while at the same time promoting the presence of community ensembles and the recordings they have made.

  • It is a single CD containing tracks representing 13 area ensembles and musicians.  The CD booklet includes contact information about the ensembles.
  • It is being sold at an attractive price, making an ideal Christmas stocking-stuffer idea.
  • It is being promoted with a flyer insert in ensemble concert programs throughout November and early December.
  • It is released under the Chestnut Hall Music label.  Our interest in this project is as a supporter of community music ensembles (producer Earl McCluskie has played with the Wellington Winds, Windjammers, KW Community Orchestra and Chamber Orchestras and other ensembles), and of course as a supporter of the Grand River Hospital Foundation. (Mr McCluskie previously produced the Windjammer’s Swingphonic CD which raised funds for the Cancer Centre).

These ensembles are participating in the project:

Windjammers ~ Menno Singers ~ KW Philharmonic Children’s Choir ~

KW Community Orchestra  ~ Wellington Winds ~ Tactus Vocal Ensemble ~

KW Chamber Orchestra ~ Greensleaves ~ Inter-Mennonite Children's Choir ~ DaCapo Chamber Choir ~ Waterloo Chamber Players ~ The Renaissance Singers ~ Nota Bene Period Orchestra

The following area stores are carrying the CD:

  • Waterloo Music
  • Music Plus
  • The Beat Goes On
  • Twelfth Night Music Shoppe

It is our hope that the superb recorded music of the regions ensembles will enable us to give something more to the community, which has supported us so strongly over the years.
