A
voyage through musical time and space
The
Italian word “Tempi” (plural of
“tempo”) has
multiple connotations, many of which are illustrated by our music:
time; chronological time; psychological perception of the passing of
time; periods, epochs and eons; meteorological states; vital states and
moods; sections and subdivisions of works; grammatical tenses (past,
present, future); and of course musical time as illustrated by tempos,
measures and time signatures. |
